12/31/2023 0 Comments Key largo movie styleThe krazy thing is, with all the other flavored brandies and liqueurs in the world, I’m not sure stocking this stuff for drinking purposes is necessary. I tried it with the orange juice and thought it wasn’t bad, although a little too sweet for my taste (and way to sweet to be considered a real, Exotic Tiki bar cocktail, although the potential is there with some tinkering). There’s not much about it online (which is why I suspect it is fairly new…either that or hopelessly unpopular). Recipes for this stuff range from simply mixing with OJ and grenadine to a nice sounding concoction called the Key Largo Kooler. This bottle has Key in the name and parrots on the label. On that same note, Anything bright green, blue or orange is also required. No Floridian Tiki Bar should be without any booze that has “Key”, “Tiki” or “Parrot” in the name. Basically a sweet, mellow, fruity liqueur that adds a nice flavor without overpowering the drink.Ĭlearly I only bought this ($9.99 at Winn Dixie) because of the bottle. It’s clear, so it won’t screw up your drink’s color. It’s not as orangey as Triple Sec, not as strong as coconut rum. The Label says it mixes tropical flavors with island breezes or something…Ok, I was already into some rum when I tried to read the damned thing…anyway tasting it straight up (which I never recommend for anything intentionally made for mixing, unless it’s to get an idea of the flavor…translation, don’t do this as shots) it has an extremely sweet, vaguely citrus flavor with a silky, syrupy feel. Either way, it’s new to me, so here we go… DeKuyper’s Key Largo Schnapps Liqueur Review Many believe that it was that scene alone which secured Trevor’s Oscar win and while I’m not sure about that, it’s absolutely iconic (and NOT lip synced).I honestly don’t know if this stuff is brand new (Bought it last night, but it’s nowhere to be found on the DeKuyper website) or if I’ve just missed it. ![]() Its one of those so bad it’s good performances, and one you certainly cant look away from. You can’t help but cringe a little when you hear Gaye Dawn sing Moanin’ Low, but that’s exactly what you should be doing. No longer the leading lady, but 100% capturing your attention: she does exactly that and more in this movie. ![]() Trevor’s character is the most complex of them all, and I can see how she reminded audiences that she could still be a commanding presence on screen. Robinson, even the presence of his beloved boat and his love for the sea.Īnd then we have scene stealer Claire Trevor, playing Gaye Dawn, whose performance of Moanin’ Low is in part what makes this film unforgettable. Everything about this film is tailored to being in Bogart’s taste: director John Huston, wife Lauren Bacall, co-star Edward G. When I say Bogart film, I mean it’s the type of film that you’d expect Bogart to be in. However, after chatting about this film with a former teacher- turned friend of mine (our families are good friends), I realized this film actually isn’t all that bad- it’s just a very, very Bogart style film. ![]() Robinson’s Johnny Rocco kisses Nora Temple (Bacall), and that one specific scene set me on a path of believing this film is not for me. The one scene I found to be disjointed was when Edward G. I found it to be slightly over rated, and I didn’t particularly care for the characters. The first time I ever saw Key Largo, I didn’t care for it.
